I’ve made a previous post several weeks ago regarding some iffy test results. I just got a new set of results in that I’d like your input on. I had a protected, short, casual encounter about 2 months ago. Here’s my results so far, with the time elapsed since the possible exposure:
2 days: Negative
7 days: HSV2 Positive 1.44
19 days: HSV2 Positive 1.66 with negative supplemental
7 weeks and 5 days: HSV2 Positive 2.22 with negative supplemental
Symptom wise I’ve been sick with flu-like symptoms for the past four days. I’ve been getting small canker sores throughout my mouth for about a month now. Two doctors and my dentist have insisted that they don’t see anything in my mouth suggesting herpes. I haven’t had any outbreaks unless what’s going on in my mouth is a herpetic infection. Everything strange is occurring intraorally. There’s been one or two occasions when my lips have felt weird/swollen/burning, but I never had an outbreak. My lips have been incredibly chapped and I have been getting cankers inside my lips, so that might explain those sensations. I was prescribed antibiotics at one point and my mouth was almost returned to normal which makes me think it’s not a viral infection, but I’m not sure. Also, none of these ulcers in my mouth are painful, which goes against everything I’ve read about herpes ulcers, inside or outside the mouth.
I’ve also been overly stressed for almost every day since my first positive result. At this point, I can’t be sure whether my diminished health is a result of stress or an infection.
Please let me know what you think of my results/symptoms and whether or not I should proceed with a western blot.
I think that you likely don’t have HSV 2. there is quite good agreement between negative supplemental tests at labCorp and future negative western blots from the University of Washington.
