Hello Terry ,
Thank you for everything you do on this . I’ve had a terrible issue occur to me . I went on antibiotics for like 4 months and after that I got terrible burning and itchy with discharge . When all this occurred I went in a got tested for everything you think of and the hsv2 test came back as 1.83 . I tested at urgent care and they use lab corps . Right when I got this result I went into the gynecologist and she checked me throughly and said she sees no bumps . That the range of the number can be a false positive : I’ve only had one partner my entire life and I was only sexually active with him 3 times . My parents are also immigrants . At the same time when I did test for this I had Covid as well . I’ve never had bumps or any of that . The only thing is I have red Irritation down there for the last year . The redness just never went away and I’m pretty sure it’s all from the over use of antibiotics .
So my questions are do you believe that this can be a false positive ? My gynecologist felt like it can be as well .
Would herpes irritation be red dry and last this long ? When visiting urgent care again they told me I had a yeast infection . I just don’t know what to do anymore .this test has flipped my life upside down and I have a big big feeling it might be false . What’s the percent that my test was a false postive ? Thank you again for all that you do

I want to take the western blot but before that I wanted your thoughts about how accurate my test could have been . Throughout a course of 3 years I was only with him sexually 3 times . I’ve never seen him have bumps or anything of that . When did I test for all those things I was already not with him for more than a year half. Wouldn’t my antibodies after a year and half be way higher ? Please help me I’m just losing my mind at this point .

I think it is very likely that this is a false positive. I think you should be very optimistic! But for sure, you need a western blot. You can either work with your own provider to do this or with me. Try not to lose your mind – I think the odds of you having HSV 2 is low. Was there a supplemental test on your LabCorp result?

My supplement test was positive from lab corps . I’ve neverever had bumps down there . And I’ve only been with this one person . He never told me he has anything even when I’ve asked he told me his tests were always clean . What’s the likely over a 4 years to catch it if I’ve only been with him 3 times in the 4 years . I genuinely in my heart believe this is a false postive . I want to take the western blot and follow up with it . In yellow it stated 1.83 and the supplement was postive . Thanks so much again for your help .

I have 96 patients now who have positive supplemental tests from LabCorp who are negative by western blot. This is an outrage. You need the blot – no question. Either work with your own provider to get it or work with me. But get the blot. I would bet a lot of money you are not infected with HSV 2, given your sexual history
