I was with my female partner a few days ago who is HSV2 positive. She generally only has an outbreak on her lower back above her buttocks. She did not inform me she had an outbreak and I fingered her and afterwards noticed the outbreak because I moved my hand over her button area and asked her about it and she said we should be fine since she never has sores on her actual vagina. Much Earlier in the day I had my middle finger pricked by a safety pin on accident ironically enough. That was the finger that was used on my partner. I wasn’t actively bleeding or anything when I fingered her that was hours prior but I’ve seen online that any wound could cause infection. Should I be concerned by the fingering or the fact my hand brushed up against the outbreak? I eventually washed my hands and did not touch myself with my hands or anything. But I washed my hands a while after we had a conversation about all of this. I’m super anxious thank you so much for your help and advice!
Your partner is incorrect that she can’t transmit the virus to you because she’s not had sores in her actual vagina. That is incorrect information. I think what you should do is just watch the finger that was injured for the next 2 to 10 days and see if anything shows up there. If it does, you should have that swab tested right away. If you see nothing in the next 10 days, that I think you did not acquire this on your finger

Hi Terri thank you for your information and response to my initial question. I have kept an eye on the finger that had been injured prior to when I had contact with my partner and it has been over 10 days and I have seen absolutely nothing on that finger. Nothing out of the ordinary and no change to the finger. I have not had any new contact with that partner since. Just to confirm with a professional and put my anxiety to rest about this…I should be fine and don’t need to worry about HSV2 on my hand any more? Just double checking! Thank you so much for your information and help.
Thanks again Terri.
I don’t believe you have HSV 2 on your finger since you have no symptoms.
