Hello,
So I have known I have HSV-1 (by an IGG blood test) but as far as I can tell I am asymptomatic. I don’t get sores anywhere as far as I can tell. But as a precaution, I take a daily valtrex pill.
I was hanging with this dude that had a cold sore. I told him I’d rather wait until it was healed before kissing again.
I went to kiss his cheek but he tried to kiss my mouth. What ended up happening was a kiss where his sore may have come into contact with my outer lip/side of lip area.
I could not get to soap and water to clean the affected area for quite some time.
I was wondering what is the likelihood that I will now have to deal with cold sores? I was hoping the fact that I have been exposed to HSV-1 in the past and take medication will help me avoid that but I’m not sure. Please help. Thank you
Once you have HSV 1 in one location on your body, it is extremely unlikely you would get it in a new location. It is more likely that you have HSV 1 orally than genitally so even more reason this is not a risk for you. right?
