      Hi Terri,
I got a WB earlier this year despite the results being negative I still live & operate like I am HSV+ for 1 & 2. I tried to put it behind me but can’t. I still experience abnormal symptoms that I just attribute to this virus. In March the roof of my mouth felt off when I ran my tongue so I took a picture- it didn’t look bad at first but it got worse within hours. Odd shaped, white with a little red but not raised, flush the roof of my mouth. The next day it was bruised red color, no discomfort/pain. It just was alarming to me so I refused to eat. Looked similar to a burn. Healed & “disappeared” within 36 hours. My nephew grabbed my leftover drink off the table & sipped on it. I freaked out. He’s 5 & I was already doubting my results. I spent the following days watching him like a hawk. He reported to my step dad his mouth hurt – I felt immediate dread. Claims it was something on his gum line, possible canker sore. No other issues reported after. Then in May I got my cycle, working out for the past year has been difficult. High intense workouts lead to me getting sick – ear pain, throat feels off for days, nerve issues in neck. I thought HSV in the throat. I ride my bike twice that week & feel pain – I thought because it’s been awhile/seat is hard. But noticed in the shower there was a spot that looked like a cut. I was wearing a pad & thought maybe I ripped myself but again doubting my results I think it’s HsV. That lasted maybe 4 or 5 days, pain only when urine went over it. Then last week go out & come back feeling my face where it feels like a scab is developing on my bottom lip closer to the corner. I freak out again- days prior on the inside of my lip I felt a sore but lately I’ve bitten the inside of my lip more without noticing. A similar scab has appeared at least three times between 2022/23. Different sides & the ones before disappear after 2-3 days. It’s so tiny/no pain. I am not sexually active right now. Is it possible my WB is wrong?

Did you wait 12 weeks after having any sexual contact with anyone? If not, you should have.
Have you had the lesions swab test when they are present? You’ve had a lot of what you consider symptoms and they need to be swab tested. let me know these answers please.

Before the WB I had not had sex. I have not had sex in over a year. I only masturbate which has become uncomfortable so I am stopping that as well. I have not had anything swabbed. Medical care locally has been a nightmare. The medical office I was going to all thought I was crazy coming in as often about random symptoms so I stopped going. When I mentioned the oral issues the doctor I was seeing told me that wasn’t HSV and to comeback when I had something outside of my mouth or a “real oB”. Currently I had a lesion behind my two front teeth, flush to the roof of my mouth. Almost feels like I burned the roof of my mouth because of how raw it feels. No pain, just annoying. Have you had patients take a WB, have negative results and still present similar symptoms which ended up being positive? I know testing is never perfect. While I had my doubts on my negative status, I thought I finally solved my issue. I have an appointment scheduled for August with a doctor I trust and know. I just keep documents/pictures of my symptoms. It’s been going on a year with the oral issues. Can’t eat certain foods, constantly checking the inside of my mouth. I don’t know too much about HSV inside the mouth. Is there any helpful information I can review? How common is HSV in the roof of the mouth? Tongue? I’ve had bleeding tongue, a sore tongue. I spent over 2k last year trying to find some answers so I’m not jumping for joy to see a medical professional who will just run labs. OB normally last 10-14 days, correct? Can they last shorter if the person has had the virus for awhile.

If the medical place you go won’t do swabs, you can order them yourself to gather yourself and return at 24/7labkit. This is the way that you are going to know if what’s inside your mouth is HSV or not. There really isn’t another way. People can get HSV on the roof of the mouth, yes. I doubt that the tongue issues are related to herpes. outbreaks orally usually last around a week to 10 days.

I’ll try that. Thank you. If I nothing currently active in my mouth or around – appears completely normal can I still swab for spit and that would be sufficient with determining if I have oral HSV? Or would you suggest I keep the kit for when something pops up?

It isn’t worth swabbing spit. Only swab if you have an actual lesion
