3 and a half months ago I had protected relations with a stripper.
4 days later I developed a red rash, with some white scaling and small bumps on my pubic area at the base of my penis. This actually came and went in the day prior.
I went to urgent care and they ran a plethora of tests, but also diagnosed me with a fungal/jock itch type infection.
They prescribed an anti fungal cream. Within days of using the cream, the redness went away. However the itching persisted. The cream was quite strong and I have sensitive skin as it is so I assumed it was having a reaction to the cream, however continued using it for the following 2 weeks.
During that two weeks I also developed testicular pain and nerve pain in my thighs. There was no swelling in my lymph nodes.
I also tested positive for ureaplasma parvum and was given 10 days of doxy, due to the pain I was having.
Doxy helped with testicular pain, but not thigh pain.
I ended up getting a new cream for fungal infection, this basically stopped the itching I was having, however til this day I still get random itching.
The thigh pain moved down my legs into my feet and eventually hands.
The nerve pain in legs/feet/hands subsided after 3 months, however I still have some muscular pain in my legs and some itching on my inner groin area. However no redness. And I have had no sores during this whole process.
Does this have similarities to any case of genital herpes you have seen?
My provider is refusing to do an igg test as she believes this is not herpes related.
I am positive for hsv1 and had cold sores as a child. My hsv1 numbers were 54, I believe this indicates I’ve had it for a while.
I had full std panel after 90 days and was negative for everything, minus hsv2 tests which were not done.
Thank you.

Also if was exposed to herpes, and was having symptoms, is it safe to assume I would have had an outbreak?

Just wanted to add to this.
I’ve been experiencing itching for 6 days now. It’s not intense, and seems to come and go. More so when I’m sweaty.
My understanding was herpes itch prior to outbreak lasts about 24 hours then sores would appear.
I’m kind of at a loss of what may be happening.
I have another dr appointment tomorrow where I will be asking about this, and asking again for another igg blood test. If they won’t give it to me I have found another clinic locally that will do it just to be safe.
Definitely interested in hearing your thoughts as a specialist.

You can order your own IgG test at several locations on the internet at reliable lab locations. But this really doesn’t sound like herpes to me.
Itching that is intermittent for days does not sound like herpes to me either.Terri

Thank you for your reply. I found a lab to do an igg test and conducted this test after 18 weeks.
Would this be considered conclusive given the time frame or would you recommend further testing.
Have you seen a false negative after 18 weeks with any of your patients.
I had a single bump develop on the base of my penis. It popped like a zit, it was harder to the touch. It’s been 48 hours and still hasn’t developed into a sore/legion. It’s a little tender but not painful. I don’t believe it to be a herpe but will be monitoring it for the next couple of days to see if it develops further.

I have seen false negatives, yes. We know that the IgG test misses cases of both HSV 1 and HSV 2. It is not perfect, but for HSV 2, it picks up 92% of infections compared to the western blot
