› Forums › Herpes Questions › Genital HSV1 transmission to the hands/fingers
I recently had someone touch me genitally with their hands. This happened about 10 times over a 2 day period. I am diagnosed with HSV1 genitally (confirmed swab and blood…no HSV2). Have had it about 16 years. I rarely get outbreaks and did not have any signs/symptoms of one (that I know of). This person is a nail biter and there were breaks on the skin. This person states they have never had a cold sore before so don’t believe there are HSV1 antibodies.
My questions are:
– How likely is it for this person to get herpetic whitlow?
– How soon would signs/symptoms of herpetic whitlow occur?
– What is the % chance for something to happen here? I am very worried.
– Is there anything else that I am not thinking of here?
Thank you.
The likelihood of them getting whitlow is extremely extremely low. I would not worry about it at all.
Within 5-10 days
Please – don’t worry. HSV 1 is shed infrequently and whitlow is rare.
You are over thinking this – honestly.
Terri
