Hi Terri,
I (male) had unprotected oral sex (received) November 26, 2021. Tested on December 7, 2021 and results were: HSV 1 IGM – Neg, HSV 2 IGM – Neg, HSV 1 IGG 3.04 and HSV 2 IGG 1.24. All previous tests had been negative across the board (no prior outbreaks, cold sores, etc.) but, admittedly, since HSV is not always tested it had been a while since I had a HSV test. No supplemental test was performed so I had HSV 2 test reperformed on December 13, 2021 result was HSV 2 IGG 1.11 and supplemental test was negative. No sexual intercourse since November 26, 2021. Fast forward to April 14, 2022 and had all STI testing performed: HSV 1 IGG 1.82 and HSV 2 IGG < 0.90.
How conclusive are the April 14, 2022 results? Should I still get the Western Blot to reach a conclusive determination on both HSV 1 and HSV 2?
To the extent relevant, 12-7-21 test was Quest, 12-13-21 test was Labcorp and 4-14-22 test was Quest.
I think given these low positive index values and negative supplemental at LabCorp that HSV 2 infection is quite unlikely. You could do the western blot for greater clarity, but I am guessing it will be negative. That isn’t a promise, it is a well-educated guess.
Terri
