Hi there,
I’ve been with my partner for two years now, and we recently had a baby together eight weeks ago. Around four or five weeks after she was born, my partner performed oral sex on me on two separate occasions. I found out after talking to him that he had a history of cold sores, but no active symptoms at the time.
I had a physical exam and pap smear shortly after, at the six week mark, and then two days after that is when I first noticed that something wasn’t right.
The entire crease between my labia minora and majora was red and looked like it had been cut, and there was a small ulcer near the vaginal opening. In the days that followed, my skin in the crease completely split open and turned into one huge, white ulcer. This then happened in the other crease and in the crease between my butt cheeks, and several red spots appeared that blistered into ulcers at the days progressed.
It’s been accompanied by nerve pain and tingling in my lower back and down my legs.
I’ve never had any outbreak previously but have not been tested prior to this. My doctor was very dismissive at first and said it was a yeast infection when I spoke to him on two occasions. I will be calling again tomorrow to get swabbed.
My question:
1. Is it possible to have such an extreme first outbreak years after contracting HSV, or is it more likely from the timeline that I acquired this from my husband performing oral sex on me?
This sounds more like a first infection than a recurrence if that is what you are asking. And I would certainly recommend that you be seen and have a PCR swab test done that includes typing if positive. It could also be bacterial in nature, so you need to sort this out, for sure. If the ulcerations have been there for a while, it may be too late for an accurate swab test, not sure from your description. Can you get in tomorrow? You need to get in tomorrow or go be seen at urgent care
Terri
