I have had ghsv1 with only a few outbreaks over 20 years. My last partner was hsv positive but didn’t know which type he had. We used condoms expect for a few times.
Since I got the Covid booster, I’ve now had two outbreaks. They are mild but the last one lasted 2 weeks. Slight itching then small pimple like sores that disappear after a few days then new ones come. This month it just started again in the same spot. Does this sound like gsv1 that was reactivated from the vaccine or stress? Or possibly I got hsv2 from past partner?
I will plan to get a blood test soon. My doctor said since my sores were so small they couldn’t swab. Is that the case? Thank you!
Any sores should have been swab tested, regardless of size.
The COVID booster could be challenging your immune response and causing more outbreaks, but I would be concerned about transmission from a partner who doesn’t know what type they have. They should be tested to find out and I agree that you should have an antibody test as well, at least a few months after last sex with that partner.

Thanks for your reply. I actually was able to get swab tested, and it came back as GHSV1. So you’re right, it sounds like the Covid booster may have stressed my immune system and caused these outbreaks even though it was dormant for so many years. I’m hoping after some time it settles down again. I got a prescription for an antiviral to take when the outbreaks occur.
Perfect!
