Hi Terri!
I tested positive for GHSV1 in March 2020 and had my 2nd recurring outbreak since then two weeks ago. I had sex with my boyfriend with a condom but I still had a small healing scab on the lower part of my right vagina lip from the outbreak. I took 1000mg of valacyclovir for 3 days for the outbreak to go away, and we had sex 9 days after i got off of the medication and 12 days after the outbreak. It’s been 4 days since we had sex and nothing has happened but I’m very worried that I could have transmitted it to him genitally through the herpes scab. What are the odds that this happened? He is HSV negative.
I think the odds are very low indeed that he contracted HSV 1 from you, given the circumstance that you describe. he should continue to observe for symptoms for just a bit longer now. The condom and the Valtrex were your good friends in this situation, good indeed!
Terri
