Hi Terri!
I have a question. I acquired GHSV1 about 10-11 years ago. I’ve only had two outbreaks. My first primary outbreak and then a second outbreak triggered by sex, 5-6 years later from my first outbreak. It’s been 4 years since my last outbreak and given that I’ve had this virus for about 10-11 years with two outbreaks what is my risk of transmission genitally to genitally? I’ve taken NO antivirals over the last 10 years.
I’ve given birth, had a 104 degree fever with Covid, been highly stress multiple times, and I didn’t have any reoccurrences during this time. What is the likelihood of having another outbreak after only having two in the last 10-11 years? Also, does shedding go down after 10 years? Is it possible to never have another outbreak again?
Does the frequency of outbreaks diminish over time in my given situation?
the likelihood of you transmitted HSV 1 through intercourse is incredibly low. Research suggests that after 2 years of being infected, people shed virus about 4 days out of a year. Since you’ve been infected that long, your risk is probably even lower.
