Hello,
I wanted to know what the chances are of spreading genital hsv1 from female to male with genital sex when a condom has been used and there is no out break.
With the individual with hsv 1 having an established infection (5 years) – 1 sore at the beginning of the year following a period of heavy stress and no other sore since 4 years prior.
How much does ghsv 1 shed after a 5 year infection and minimal outbreaks?
Also how many cases of genital to genital transmission do you see?
Lastly, if the other individual already has hsv 1 (but unsure of the location so lets assume its oral) what are the odds they could catch it genitally when a condom was used
I have never seen a case of HSV 1 transmission via intercourse, but it has been documented rarely. If someone already has HSV 1 orally, it would be very unlikely they would get it genitally
By the time someone has had HSV 1 genitally for 2 years, they shed virus on about 4 days out of the year.
Terri
