I had a sexual encounter unprotected with a man last fall. I asked him if he was tested prior and said he recently was because he had small bumps but thought they were yeast rash from surfing in a wetsuit a lot. Unprotected sex , on that night we both did mdma ( I think this is relevant info for later). One week later I break out in bumps everywhere around my vagina ( vuvla , above my vulva , inside my vagina , outside ofpanty line, butt, thighs) very painful, smelly cottage cheese discharge. I go to urgent care, they tell me if I have herpes, swab and send me home with valtrex.
I have trouble getting my test results from the urgent care for MONTHS. I finally do and find out they lost my herpes swab but I did text positive for a yeast infection that day. I get a full STD panel that comes back negative IGG <.90 for HSV2.
I get the western blot test, negative HSV2, positive HSV1.
The man who I had unprotected sex with continues to get chronic thrush to the point his tonsils are removed due to horrible oral yeast infections.

While I have HSV1 I know this could be a positive test due to any exposure to it during my life, do you think I had a genital outbreak? Is is it possible that was a yeast infection from hell exasperated by bad mdma and the stress my body was under, and the fact that the partner struggles with this ?
Is there any way to know the location of the HSV1, I have not had any symptoms since then . Should I go on with life as if this didn’t happen ? What do you advice patients with no hsv1 symptoms but positive blood tests to do regarding future partners ?

I don’t think there is any way to know for sure what your genital infection was but it sounds more like yeast than herpes. Were the symptoms very painful, ulcerated, which scabbed later? It’s hard for me to get a feel for what happened to you with a bit more detail.
Have you ever in your life had a cold sore on your lip? If not, then it isn’t going to be possible to know where your infection is unless or until you get a lesion somewhere that can be swab tested.

So they were like spread out individual bumps, many of them but not in clusters as they seeming to be spread evenly over my skin. They did seem to ulcer as in form and then break but not a ton on clear scabbing -it took 3-4 weeks for my skin to look normal again I had sort of a faint scar from them for a few months even after. Extremely itchy on the bumps but also mainly felt like itching from inside my vagina so much so I could barely sit still. They were also painful and very painful to pee. I have never had a cold sore. The sores mainly stopped hurting and itching after a week but I had cottage cheese discharge on and off for another month, my doctor never told me I had a yeast infection so I never got meds for it . If this is s ghsv1 infection is genital to genital transmission a concern? I’m confused how to move forward because I want to keep future partners safe but I also wouldn’t want to burden them with irrelevant information if this was just as horrible yeast infection. Is it possible the western blot would test positive from exposure to hsv1 maybe even from childhood and sharing cups etc?

If this was indeed genital HSV 1, transmission through intercourse is rare indeed.
The western blot would be positive if you were infected as a child or as an adult, but it wouldn’t tell you where the infection is on your body and I would encourage you not to jump to conclusions about the location since you cannot really know – it is so hard for me to know what’s going on base don your post here.
