Hello. 2011 I engaged in sex with HSV2 pos female (confirmed after the fact). Three weeks later, noticed change in taste. Four weeks later, I experienced the most unusual electric tingling in my right arm. Over next two days, experience more tingling all over, including head, felt very sick, freezing cold, worst part, I experienced an intense burning in the front part of my head and forgetfulness. Also, I discovered an extremely painful to touch purple bruise around my belt line. Went to ER, and a specialist, and doctor suspected I have viral meningitis. Only put on oral drugs daily. Tested for HSV2 confirmed. 2014, Spinal tap taken but negative. I’ve had a bunch of tests taken ruling out everything else. Since then, some improvements, but I have felt the presence of effects, forehead sensations, facial tingling, cold water sensations, dizziness at times, pain in arms, tingling as well, as well as tingling in feet with burning sensation. I use acyclovir/valcyclovir daily, which brings relief, but wondering should I try intravenous. Without the drugs, it doesn’t take long before I feel the effects, and it gets bad…scary. My questions are, can my situation get better with intravenous usage to the point where this doesn’t exist? Also, could you recommend a specialist chicagoland area that deals with these matters?
What sort of herpes test did you have to confirm this diagnosis – IgG, IgM?
If you have HSV 2 meningitis recurrently, this should truly be managed by a neurologist. And that’s the specialist that I would recommend though I don’t know of one in particular.
Terri
