I have done blood work twice in the past year. In January of 2021 I showed igg scores of 42.69 for HSV 1 and 7.25 for HSV 2. In January of 2022 I showed igg scores of 40.70 for HSV 1 and 1.35 for HSV 2. I have never had an outbreak, and during the year since my diagnosis I had a beautiful healthy baby girl. Logically I know transmission through casual contact is highly unlikely but I’m so deathly afraid of accidentally giving it to her. I just want thorough answers and interpretations, as my healthcare providers have left me confused when I expressed concerns.
Your labs for HSV 2 are truly all over the place! I don’t recall having seen such discrepant HSV 2 results like this in anyone. I would certainly recommend a western blot for you for clarity.
In terms of your baby: If your baby had acquired HSV 2 from you at birth, she would have been sick – usually pretty damn sick and in the hospital. Was that the case?
Also, at 1.35, if we had that value alone, with no 7.25, there would have been an 85% chance that this is a false positive. Very weird.

I had her through c-section, (complications with her positioning). And she has not ever been required to stay in the hospital longer than needed.
I also felt my lab scores were weird, as I mentioned I have not had an outbreak and cannot recount ever coming into contact with someone who has had active hsv 2. Also, is it normal for score levels to fluctuate in such a manner?
Although I have accepted and come to terms with it, I feel doing a western blot may provide the clarity I’m looking for
So then no worries about your child and HSV 2. It is not normal for these values to fluctuate so much. yes, the western blot is your avenue to clarity.
