Hi Terri,
I recently had sex, and about a day or two after I noticed my discharge was watery.
It had no smell and was white like normal, but it was just too excessive as it would wet my panty crotch.
I went to the doctor where I got antibiotics and also decided to do a pap smear.
I took the medication and my discharge returned to normal. When I got the pap smear results, it came back normal but Herpes Simplex was present. I asked my doctor and he said he wouldn’t worry about it. I still proceeded to do the blood test. I haven’t gotten the results back, but I am so worried. I haven’t gotten any symptoms of herpes outside of my discharge being water initially. Please tell me what you think.
Also, before my discharge got watery it had a sour smell.
I took the antibiotics and after everything cleared up we had sex again.
This time my discharge was thick and had a fishy smell like bv.
I watched it for about a week then my period came, once my period ended it kinda went back to being white and watery but this time had a slightly fishy smell. I went back to my doctor where he did an exam, and took another swab and sent it to the lab for testing. He didn’t see anything abnormal with my cervix. I did the swab and as I mentioned also did the blood test.
Currently awaiting the results for both.
So are you saying that they found herpes simplex virus on your pap? By now , you likely have blood test results. Let me know what they found.
The fishy smell is not related to herpes but rather to either bacterial vaginosis or trichomoniasis. Were you tested for those?
Terri
I haven’t gotten the results as yet and yes, the pap smear came back normal but Herpes Simplex present.
Are pap smears usually accurate in diagnosing Herpes?
What was probably found are what’s called multinucleated giant cells. They can be present due to herps yes. Or did they actually look for herpes virus on the pap like a PCR? Let me know what the blood test shows.
Terri
