Terri,
Thank you for taking the time to review my question. I was diagnosed with genital HSV1 in 2013 with a swab test and have actually come to terms with it. While moving and switching to a new GP, I decided to obtain a full std screen including HSV1/2. To my surprise the IGG test came back with:
HSV 1- 58.1
HSV 2 – 2.49
This seems like an extremely high HSV 1 count and I was wondering if this would increase the likelihood of delivering a false positive for the HSV 2? I will get tested again, but would like to know your opinion as my GP has little experience with these types of diseases.

Yes, your high HSV 1 could certainly account for a false positive on the HSV 2 antibody test. When was your last sexual contact?
