I had 2 positive IGG tests for HSV-2 with 1.4 and 1.7. I had never had any symptoms that I could tell before the positive tests and I had no new sexual partner for years before. After the second test I was put on once daily 500mg Valacyclovir. I wanted to get confirmatory testing so I scheduled a western blot. The western blot came back negative for HSV-1 and HSV-2. Will the valacyclovir cause me to have a false negative?
I am having some lower abdominal pain around the pelvis and a bump that appeared to be a pimple in the pubic hairline(went away in a couple days) but I am not sure. No itching, pain, painful urination, blistering, etc. I also had an bump on the roof of my mouth that looked like a mucocele that popped and went away in a couple days. I just want to check if I could still be positive as I was on Valacyclovir when I got the western blot. Just trying to see if I am overthinking my symptoms.
Would valacyclovir cause me to get a false negative from a western blot test?
If no new partners for years and your regular partner doesn’t have HSV then the Valtrex is not a concern at all. Believe that blot.
