I have had HSV1 for most of my life, 2 years ago i tested positive for HSV2.
2016:
HSV1: 62.0
HSV2: 2.23
2017:
HSV1: 62.20
HSV2: 2.13
The test was of type HSV 2 IgG, Type Spec
Is this indicative of a false positive? Perhaps the HSV1 somehow caused a false positive for the HSV2? It seems the reading is getting lower year after year, so I am not sure. What do you think?
Also LabCorp was the provider of the test if that makes a difference.
Did they do their confirmatory test?
Your value is a low positive and needs confirmation with another test, preferably the herpes western blot. There is about a 50-50 chance that this is a false positive

Sorry for my lack of understanding, but what does a confirmatory test mean? How do I go about getting a herpes western blot?
Also will just taking an Igg test for HSV2 make a difference vs taking a test that tests for both HSV1 and HSV2?
I have never had any symptoms (I know of).
It appears to me that you did have a type specific test, that is, one that successfully differentiates between type one and type II. Sometimes, clinicians will order a confirmatory test from the same lab where they order the IgG test and sometimes they do not. It doesn’t really matter to me because I believe the Western blot is a superior test. I can help you obtain a Western blot if you wish. We would need to schedule a videoconference first which you can do on the homepage of this website. There’s a big button on the home page that says video conference. If you wanted to do this right away, I believe I have openings for tomorrow. Alternatively, you could work with your own provider to get this done and the University of Washington. You need a confirmatory test per of the Center for disease control guidelines when you have an index value of 1.1 to 3.5
