Hello, words cant describe my feelings right now. I went to my gyn for my regular check up got all the testing did not knowing anything about an seperate hsv igg test. Moving foward somebody called me back days laters to inform that eveything was negative, but they did found antibodies proving I was exposed to hsv2 and asked could she put a Herpes Pamphlet in the mail to me. At that point I tell her Herpes “WHAT”? she then says you never had symptoms.. I tell her no never she tell me well if ever you do just give us a call so we can go from there. I call back the next day to get some clarity spoke with a nurse she tells me not worry because I would not have been able to miss the signs. I asked her what was the results she said she wasn’t good a reading them bbut she believe it was 4.72 , but she would put a copy in the mail by the way I have not recieved. My question is what should i do at this point of course i’ve googled myself crazy. My private area is very sensitive im for certain i would not dismiss any symptoms. my life has turned into a nightmare!!! I haven’t slept or ate since the call.

I am assuming that the correct test was done for HSV 2, the IgG. The number you have provided for me sounds like an IgG index value.
If that is an IgG index value then the likelihood that you have HSV 2 is very high indeed, I am sorry to tell you.
The nurse is incorrect – about 80% of those infected with HSV 2 don’t recognize symptoms consistent with genital herpes.
About 25% of women in the US between the ages of 14-49 have HSV 2 infection so if you truly are infected, you are not alone. I would encourage you to read the Updated Herpes Handbook on this website, it’s free.
Also, did they test you for HSV 1 or just HSV 2? Do you know what your HSV 1 score was?
If you want confirmatory testing, there is a test available called the herpes western blot.
May I ask about your sexual history? How many lifetime sexual partners have you had? Have you contacted any past partners about this news?I know you are frantic right now but I will tell you that many many people live very full happy lives and have great sex lives, even though they have genital herpes. They have children, they have people who love them, they get past this very difficult news and move on. You will too. But it takes some times to deal with this diagnosis.
Please feel free to ask me other questions.

I’m assuming the correct test was done based on my google search. The nurse said she really didn’t know how to read the results but she’ll try when she gave them to me. She said she would send me a copy of what she had in the mail which I haven’t received yet. I’m assuming hsv 1 was negative , because she made it very clear if I had any problems in my genital area to call them other than that they will see me next year.At this point I’m just spending the rest of my life waiting on an outbreak for something that I’m certain I’ve never had any kind of symptoms for.The relationship I’m in now it’s been 12 years there are 2 other past partners that I’m no longer in contact with.

You’ve been with your current partner 12 years? May I ask why you got tested? Has your partner been tested? I would certainly recommend that your partner be tested. If your partner is positive, then this is not an issue at all. Can you give me a few more details?

Yes, Ms.Terri I’ve been with him the last 12 years. When I went to the doctor she suggested I take everything I never thought twice about it, but when they called with the results they did say this something they just recently started. I immediately went online and realized it’s not really normal testing not even with pregnant women unless felt necessary . I’ve been racking my brain trying to pin point a outbreak the only problem I’ve had in my life is yeast infections due to the antibiotics from numerous sore/strep as a child now I’ve suffer with really bad sinuses/upper respiratory infections.I did speak with my boyfriend he will get tested this coming week and the only thing I remember him having some years back was some kind of bacteria infection even then I went behind him and researched the name of the prescription to verify the story.

I forgot to mention I had bell palsy twice and before the tested I had just finished a dose of amox tr-k clv 875-125 for a upper respiratory infections. When I tested I just had a root canal days before and was taking amoxicillin. I did read that shouldn’t have an effect but just wanted to let u know.

I don’t think the Bell’s Palsy has anything to do with this. No antibiotic should influence the testing. Sometimes people will recognize an outbreak once they have been diagnosed with herpes when before they could not. Let’s see what your partner’s testing hows soon.
