If both partners have HSV 1 & HSV 2 and she has Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, would having Hashimoto’s make it more likely to trigger Hashimoto’s complications or HSV outbreaks in each other while having no visible outbreaks?
No, not that I am aware of, at all.
Terri
Note: We thought we should clarify the situation for follow up questions. My partner has hashimotos and I don’t; I have HSV1 and 2 and she doesn’t.
Question: I have HSV1 and HSV2 and have outbreaks in both oral and genital regions. I don’t know which HSV type breaks out in which area. Can my partner get HSV1 or HSV2 by kissing me on the mouth?
If you have both, and I don’t know how you know that but it would be worth discussing, you likely have HSV 1 orally and HSV 2 genitally. So yes, kissing could transmit HSV 1 to a partner. So she has been tested to know that she is negative for both?
Hashimoto’s is an autoimmune condition, but it’s not indicative of a compromised immune system. At least that is my understanding.

Yes, she has been tested regularly and always tested negatively for HSV1 and HSV2. Our question is can I have both HSV1 and 2 in the oral region and if
so, could I shed both HSV1 and 2 from just the oral region.
Next question, if I get HSV2 first, does that mean it’s unlikely I’d get HSV 1?
While it is conceptually possible for you to have HSV 2 both orally and genitally, that is rare. But if you had it orally, you would shed very rarely. And yes, if you got HSV 2 first, you have virtually no chance of acquiring HSV 1 subsequently.
We know that 95% of the time, someone who has HSV 2, has it genitally. The other way for you to know if to have one of your outbreaks swab tested and typed.
