I’ve been feeling extremely down due to my most recent activity, which occurred about a year ago. I hooked up with a guy who I do not know. I gave him head and was later concerned about any oral STD.
I went for a 10 panel STD test at Lab Corp and everything came out negative. Particularly interested in HSV 1&2 igg type specific. I had that test done 3, 4 and 10 months post possible exposure. The most recent test, at 10 months, was administered by my doc, who surprisingly included HSV 1/2 igg type specific in the full panel std test.
I have not had any symptoms for HSV, however I noticed inside my cheek, I do get tiny blood blister from time to time, in diff locations. Concerned it’s cold sore. They’re reddish and not painful at all. Usually they last about 1-3 days or a few hours. I have also noticed that I do bite inside my cheek a lot. I once bit hard and saw a little blood blister and went away within few hours. I’ve been wondering if this is related to HSV1. Also, I have been under massive amounts of stress lately and it could be that reason, but not 100 percent sure. I just can’t get over it. And I’m constantly worried about what it could be. Furthermore, I’ve been having bitter, nasty taste in my mouth. I’ve showed 6-7 total different doctors, dentists and ENT. All examined and said everything Looked fine. It worries me because this taste comes and goes and I always wonder if it had anything to do with oral STD. Sometimes it gets so bad to the point where It disrupts my daily activities. Then I have to chew gum.
I also once showed a physicians assistant, when I had that symptom, and he mentioned just via visual observation, that it’s a cold sore. I have read that the tests out there miss a certain amount of HSV 1 infections. My question is: would you suggest I take a WB to confirm? Or perhaps I’m just creating unnecessary issues in my head. I constantly feel worried and anxious about this whole issue.

Your symptoms do not sound at all herpetic to me. However, if you cannot put this worry to rest, then perhaps you would benefit from obtaining a western blot. I don’t think clinically it is necessary but peace of mind is also important for a happy life, right?

I will think about the WB. If I were interested, would I just go to video consult on this site and register there? Also, I have read that you can be the clinician to order the WB. I would only be interested in WB for HSV 1 and I live in Los Angeles. I have also read that I can test only at Anylabtestnow. Closest is AZ for me.
Anyway, please let me know if I were interested at some point, after thinking about it, what my steps would be to obtain the WB. Thank you !

Yes, I can order the western blot for you and the video conference you would need to have is at my research site, westoverheights.com. You would need a clinician to order the test but you can have it drawn at an anylabtestow, yes. And I know a lab in LA that can do your blood draw (not an anylabtestnow).

I will look into and and when ready, will schedule video consultation.
Do you know if the lab in LA is open weekends? Or what’s the name of lab? I want to see if it’s a location where I can easily drive to. Thanks!

I don’t think it is open on the weekends. It is in west LA. ARC labs. They will not do the blood draw without a lab requisition from a clinician – you cannot order this one yourself.
