HSV 1 Symptoms/Exposure

05/20/23 – I met up with a girl who had Eczema, which she disclosed. Also her room was super filthy as well. Furthermore, I didn’t detect any cold sores in her mouth or know what cold sores were either, so we made out, then I fingered her and kissed her inner thigh (no oral). There was something bumpy on her thigh when my lips made contact with it for about 5-10 seconds, it was so dark I couldn’t tell. I left her spot about 7 am and didn’t notice anything until I tried talking to an Uber driving and felt a stinging feeling on my bottom lip, went home looked in the mirror it was a singular red line/lesion mark sorta of in the inside/outside of bottom right lip. I thought it was just trauma from the girl biting my lip aggressively, so I Put alcohol on it and then went to sleep, woke up and it was full of white pasty stuff like glue, that could easily be scrubbed of with a tooth brush. Every-time it would dry, the first sign of water would make it go back to white glue or egg white appearance? Next day I decided to go biking and when it dried up it looked like a bright yellow scab this time (Day 4 or 5). I was about to take a shower and not wanting it to go back to the egg white easy to scrape liquid form this time, I just wiped the scab off and it’s been gone since. I decided to take a day off and do research and I couldn’t find anything except most marks on the lips are cold sores, but I’m not too sure of this based on what happened.

June 28 2023 – I got tested 5 1/2 weeks out by labcorps for full panel and for Hsv 1/2 both were negative, false positive maybe? Started taking 3k Argentine pills since last week to see if I could get an OB, but nothing so far.

Questions –

1. Do my symptoms sound like Herpes or something else?

2. Is it possible for HSV 1 symptoms to appear the same day upon first OB? I read it would be like 2-12 days?

3. Could I have gotten a false positive 5 1/2 weeks out? When do you suggest I retest?

They could be cold sores – a swab test would be have been helpful in sorting that out.

No, so that speaks against cold sores.

3. Could I have gotten a false positive 5 1/2 weeks out? When do you suggest I retest?
Do you mean a false negative? The IgG test, as it’s best, misses 30% of HSV 1 infections compared to the gold standard western blot. You could retest at 12 weeks but the miss rate remains the same
