I was diagnosed with ghsv-1 6 months ago. I have not had an outbreak since but do have nerve pain.
1. How common is nerve pain outside of an outbreak?
2. After 2 years the transmission rate is 1%. Is it even less as the viral load does not meet the threshold to transmit?
3. How many outbreaks are the average for ghsv-1? I have read on forums and my doctor mentioned that many get one outbreak and never see it again.
4. Is it necessary to disclose after 2 years if it does not transmit?
Hi still waiting for a response.
1. How common is nerve pain outside of an outbreak?
Not very common, especially with HSV 1 genitally
2. After 2 years the transmission rate is 1%. Is it even less as the viral load does not meet the threshold to transmit?
We do not have transmission rates for HSV 1, I don’t know where you got that information – we only have it for HSV 2. We also don’t know exactly how much virus is necessary to infect a human but we have a good idea but you’ll never know that information in your day to day life.
3. How many outbreaks are the average for ghsv-1? I have read on forums and my doctor mentioned that many get one outbreak and never see it again.
That is correct. For those who do get outbreaks, the average is about one every other year after the first year of being infected.
4. Is it necessary to disclose after 2 years if it does not transmit?
No one said it doesn’t transmit after two years, what we do know is that shedding after being infected for two years happens about 4 days out of an entire year.
