Hello.
I have been having bad anxiety about a sexual experience after an outbreak. 4/18 I noticed a cold sore on my lip forming, and by 4/24 it was mostly healed and the scab had fallen off. It is now 4/30 and last night I engaged in oral sex with a partner. I have been taking antivirals everyday since the outbreak began, even up to the day of my sexual experience. You can barely see any remaining redness, but I am experiencing a tinge of throbbing every now and again. The sensitive area definitely touched his penis. I have had HSV 1 ever since I was 8 years old, and hear the more years that pass, the less likely you are to spread. What is the likelihood that I have passed HSV 1 to him genitally? I am feeling incredibly guilty, like I should have waited another week or so. Also, we kissed and he performed oral sex on me as well. Is there a chance I could have transmitted it to myself genitally? Really want to calm my nerves about all this. Next time I will wait longer, for peace of mind. Incredibly worried about him.
I’m so sorry I missed this post! Once you have it in one location it is extremely unlikely you would get it in a new location. If he did not have an outbreak within 10 days, it is highly unlikely that he will.
Terri
