I was diagnosed with hsv-1 (genital) last year. How likely would it be for me to transmit it to someone by genital to genital contact or genital to oral? I have heard that the transmission rates are low. I’ve only had an initial outbreak and no recurrences. My partner does not have hsv.

We do not have Studies that have addressed the transmission rates I’ve Genital to genital HSV one infection. Can it happen? Yes, it has been documented in the scientific literature. Doesn’t happen very often? No. I have not seen it in my 35 years of practice nor have two other international STD experts
