Hi Terry, I am 28 year old Male
So in 07/21/2022 I did my blood test for Quest Diagnostics HSV 1 IGG, Type Specific AB <.90 index—–negative
So in 07/21/2022 I did my blood test HSV 2 IGG, Type Specific AB <.90 index——-negative
I slept with only two girls, had sex two times with protected condom vaginal sex with the first girl in December of 2022 I did get oral sex unprotected (receiving). In February with the second girl I had protected vaginal sex with condom nothing else. I went out on two dates with a girl that HSV2 but we did nothing physical I only gave her a kiss in the lips she had no sores. I went out with another girl early march, I gave her oral sex but I do not know her HSV status. From July of 2022 until May 2023 I have no symptoms no ulcers, no blisters, no sores, no lesions.
I only got tested because I just got into a relationship with someone special and I’m thinking I was clean because I never had no symptoms and was shocked and been dealing with anxiety over this.
Between that time until 5/09/2023 the day I got tested at urgent care
Sherman Abrams Lab
Herpes Virus 1 IgG – .26 <.90 index ——-negative
Herpes Virus 2 IgG 1.13 H <.90 index —-low positivethe doctor from urgent care was dismissive saying I just had it told me I had the antibodies and had it in the past
The following week 5/16/2023 I went to my primary care doctor and got tested Quest Diagnostics for
HSV 1 IGG, TYPE SPECIFIC AB <.90 index—negative
HSV 2 IGG, TYPE SPECIFIC AB 0.93 H equivocal
He wants to test me in 2-3 months he think it could a cross reaction, he praying its negative in August
Hey Terri, what should I do now and what is your input from this what are the chances of me being positive/negative ? -

I think you are very likely negative and you’ve got a very low false positive and an equivocal that means nothing. If you want more certainty, do the western blot. But I would bet a large sum of money that you are not infected with HSV 2.

Hi Terri,
I live In Brooklyn New York how would I require the western blot test ? -

I can help you with that. You would sign up using the link on this website and I can direct you to a lab in NYC where you blood can be drawn. You should order the kit from the University of WAshington at 206-685-6066 so you’ll have it when we speak

Sounds good ! I scheduled a call with you Monday the 29th of this Monday coming up, By the way I did another blood test this week with Lab Corp because I wanted to do a supplemental test it came back low positive 1.15 igg and HSV-2 IgG Supplemental Test TNP Cancelled
Test Not Performed. Due to discontinuation of reagents by the manufacturer, reflex of low
positive specimens to supplemental HSV-2 IgG testing will no longer
be performed. The predictive value of positive or negative results. You know what caused my Igg to go up ? I went from 1.13 to .93 then up to 1.15 -

Yes, I am aware that LabCorp does not have the supplemental available and that’s really a shame because a negative supplemental agrees with a negative western blot (positive supplemental do not always agree with the blot). It is normal for the IgG values to vary like yours has. It is usually meaningless.
