Hello,
I had unprotected sex with a new partner on September 20, 2021. I got tested and had samples taken on October 19, 2021. The results were IgG levels under .90 for HSV2. I have again had unprotected sex with new partner on June 9th, 2023. I had my blood drawn on August 31st, and the test reported HSV2 IgG levels at 1.77.
I have had protected sex with multiple partners in between these two encounters. Here are my questions:
I understand 1.77 is in the false positive range, but since I have had .90 levels in the past, is it more likely that I am positive given there was a significant increase in the antibodies? I have not had any symptoms and it has been almost 12 full weeks since my exposure to my sample date.
Also, if I start to have protected sex with a new partner and I have never had a breakout, considering my IgG levels, am I putting my potential partner at an elevated level of risk to the point I should disclose this to any partner going forward even if its a protected encounter? What are the chances I actually have this virus and can transmit it to others?
