Hello, Terri. I had tests done in 2018, & I was tested for HSV 1 & 2 at Planned Parenthood. They couldn’t find the vein, so I thought they never completed the test. I never received a call either.
I went into Planned Parenthood for more tests about a week ago, & they asked if I knew I had an IGG score for HSV 2 of 2.4 from 2018, & I told them I didn’t receive a call nor remember them finding the vein.
Anyhow, my test results came in a few days ago from the new test & I tested positive for HSV 1 & had an IGG score of 1.2 for HSV 2.
I had mono in 2016 & heard that could potentially effect the score also. I ordered a Western Blot test, & I’m waiting for the test / kit to come in so I can get tested.
I was curious, if I tested in 2018 & was a 2.4 & tested last week as a 1.2 IGG, is there any chance the tests were a false positive? I’ve never had any blisters or sores that I can recall.
Sorry for the late response – I’ve had COVID.
You definitely need a confirmatory test like the western blot – this could definitely be a false positive result. With the 1.2, there is an 85% chance that this is a false-positive result.
Terri
