› Forums › Herpes Questions › HSV 2 index 13.9 but husband is neg
I have been married for 14 years and we have been monogamous with the exception of a group sex incident 4 years ago (both participated in oral sex with other partners and I had intercourse with another partner using a condom.) Recently we decided to open up our marriage and tested for STIs in preparation. My husband tested negative for everything. My only positive was HSV2 IGG, index of 13.9. I have never had an outbreak or any lesions.
I also have T1D and Hashimoto’s. In my frantic googling yesterday I came across something about increased chance of false positives with autoimmune disorders. Not sure if this is pertinent.
My question:
1) Is it possible/ likely that I could have HSV 2 and not pass it on to my husband after at least 4 years of frequent unprotected sex with him?
Thank you in advance for your input.

It is possible, yes. If this is indeed the case, it suggest that you aren’t shedding virus very often. You could obtain the western blot as confirmation of this result though it is pretty high. I have seen false positives as high as 17 and several at 12
