My question is: How can I get a Western Blot test in the San Francisco Bay Area in order to verify if I am in fact positive for HSV2?
Background Info:
HSV 2 Results are HSV 2 IGG, TYPE SPECIFIC AB 1.16 H.
(FYI I also tested positive for HSV 1: HSV 1 IGG, TYPE SPECIFIC AB 3.67 H).
Test performed by Quest Labs.
Never exhibited any symptoms.
6 months since last sexual activity.
Never tested positive for HSV1 or HSV2 prior to this recent test.
Most recent sexual partner was positive for HSV2 (I do not know the specific numbers) but consistently took Valtrex and was asymptomatic.
You definitely need a Western blot. A false positive here is likely but you should only do it when 12 weeks have passed since your last contact with the person who had HSV-2. Yes, we can arrange that in the bay area. You can work with your own provider to get this test but if that does not work, I would be happy to work with you to get it done. The first step is to contact the University of Washington and obtain the herpes Western blot kit. The phone number is 206 685 6066. It is very simple if you can work with your own provider to get this done. You would order the kit and take it to your provider would then need to fill out the lab requisition and a blood draw for you. Again, if you cannot work this out with your own provider I can be the person to assist you with obtaining this test. If you want me to be the one to work with you, you would need to go to the homepage of this website and set up a videoconference.
