Hsv 2 partner maybe?

Hello I recently got into a new relationship and prior to this I have been std testing myself regularly and HSV 1 positive usually value is 51.10 and Hsv 2 has always showed <o.91 indicating negative. I recently had unprotected sex with my partner and shorty after was symptomatic for bacterial vaginosis and was positive for BV. I took my flagyl and while taking antibiotic, I didn’t feel the bacterial vaginosis symptoms anymore and proceeded to have unprotected sex with said partner. I urged my partner to get STD testing as he is 28 and has never had it done before and his HSV 2 igg came back positive at 1.51 via questlabs, he was also diagnosed with a uti at this visit and prescribed amoxicillin. He states he has never had a symptom of herpes and also feels that he doesn’t have a uti because he has no symptoms. Questions for you include:
1. Because he never had symptoms and this is most likely a “false positive.” Due to the low igg levels. When should I get retested for hsv?
2. Let’s say it’s not a false positive and his body has been introduced to the virus and its dormant. He’s never been symptomatic but I know that Hsv can still be spread if someone is not having symptoms which to my knowledge is (open legions on genitals). when I do get rechecked, should I prepare myself to have a positive as well because maybe I’ve been introduced to the virus? But also asymptomatic at this point until maybe a stressful life event can cause a breakout?
I know the western blot is the gold standard and if I were him I would get it because of the possibility of a false positive. but I am asking for myself IF and WHEN to get retested for Hsv 2 and do you think I need to get the western blot done? To be clear I have no symptoms as well and we last had sex 1 week ago.
If you think I should get retested again and it says negative, I’ll be able to put this behind me but in case it does show a high level igg then would you recommend western blot?

Statistically, there is an 85% chance this is a false positive.

If this is a true positive, his body hasn’t been introduced to the virus, he is infected with the virus and can transmit it with and without symptoms. You could test at 12 weeks out from last unprotected intercourse with him

I would recommend the western blot now for anyone who tests positive and doesn’t have symptoms. He should get the blot and if positive, then you can explore testing in 12 weeks.
