      Hey Terri,

So i’ve never had any symptoms of type 1 or type 2 herpes. I had unprotected sex with a girl and then she ended up having chlamydia. So I went straight to an urgent care and asked to get tested for everything. They got back to me the next day and told me I was positive for chlamydia, type 1, and type 2 herpes. I told her about it and then she got tested and she was negative. My urologist said that I was negative if she was negative so then i never got retested. I went for my last physical and just wanted to know for a fact I didn’t have it. I ended up testing negative for type 1 herpes and now positive for type 2 again with a blood test. I have never had any symptoms. Do you believe I should get a western blot test?

It’s difficult to advise you without knowing the index value of the test results that you obtained (the number associated with your positive result). Can you provide me with that?

      Hey Terri,

I obtained the number of the IgG test and it was 1.83. Do you think I should get the blot test to see if it was a false positive as I still have no symptoms and my quality of life has gone down. Do you believe 1.83 is a value for a lot of positive tests as wel?

You most definitely need a western blot. With this index value, you probably have a 70% chance of this being a false positive.
