Hi, Terri! I’ve had five HSV-2 IGG tests that don’t seem to make sense to me. I’ve also included all of my partners’ test results during that same time frame. Hoping you can help me understand what might be happening.
MY TESTS
* Mar 2010: Negative
* Apr 2010: Positive at 1.52
* Nov 2010: Positive at 1.41
* Mar 2023: Negative
* Apr 2023: Negative
MY PARTNERS’ TESTS
* Partner Apr 2010: Positive
* Partner Jun 2010 – Jul 2010: Negative
* Partner Aug 2010 – Sep 2022: Negative
* Partner Oct 2022 – Nov 2022: Negative
* Partner Dec 2022 – Apr 2023: Negative
I’ve searched your forum (such an incredible resource!) and found references to seroreversion. Could this be the case? Even if it is, what I really want to know is if there is still a risk of me transmitting the virus to a future partner?
My partner of 12 years (2010 – 2022) doesn’t believe I ever contracted the virus and/or it disappeared because all of my partners since my positive tests continued to test negative. I explained that I believed at the time that I contracted the virus from my positive partner and it is not curable. I did have the luxury of early detection because of the way I was continually testing for STDs/STIs at that time in my life. I hit it with high doses of Valtrex and lasers (for a different reason) within weeks of when I believed at the time I contracted the virus. Not sure that any of that matters, though.
I would love to get your thoughts on all of this.
Thank you!
SJ
PS I only took Valtrex in 2010. Between 2011 – today, I have not taken Valtrex.
I think your low positives were false positives – certainly my first reaction!
If you don’t believe that, you should get the herpes western blot, if you feel you could believe there over the deeply flawed IgG tests
