› Forums › Herpes Questions › HSV 2 Results Barely Positive
Hello – I recently had an STI test following sexual contact with other people in January, April and the beginning of May. I was tested on 5/19 by quest and the results of the test came out as follows:
HSV-1 >58.00
HSV-2 1.13
Both were IGG tests. I recognize HSV-1 is very prevalent but am wondering about the HSV-2 results being just within the positive range. I’d appreciate insight on whether I should seek further testing to confirm these results or what the best course of action may be. Thank you.
There is an 85% chance that this is a false positive. I would strongly recommend a western blot for herpes. You can work with your own provider and Univ of Washington to do that or with me – both work fine!

Thank you – that’s very helpful. Would you recommend that I wait 12 weeks from the last sexual contact to do the blot or can I look to do it as early as now? Thank you!
I would strongly recommend that you follow the UW recommendation which is to wait the 12 weeks before doing the blot
