Hi Terri,
I took it upon myself to get a STD check, I ordered from STDcheck.com and did the test with Labcorp. I received an abnormal 4.31 HSV 2 index. I panicked a visit maybe 6 doctors and got swab test that all came back negative (I had small cyst on my left labia that I was told was a cyst.)I keep being told I don’t have herpes or maybe my antibodies could’ve fought off exposure. I haven’t had any sores, I was having burning pain on the sides of my legs and tingling but I was diagnosed with BV. Took the metronidazole and symptoms went away (now I have random nerve pain and muscle spasms) I retested again this time with Quest and received a 3.61 HSV result. What does it mean that my antibody level is decreasing and also could it be a false positive? Do you recommended the western blot test?
To mention my second test was done 5 weeks after the labcorp test with STDcheck.com. Doctor keeps telling me I have recurring BV and the symptoms I did have ( sciatic pain in legs, back, nerve pain in arms and all over was just due to my anxiety. I also had some butt pain (but that went away after taking the BV medication) I don’t know if I googled and tricked my body into having HSV symptoms. But for now the I have occasionally muscle spasms in my calf and left buttock. I also want to mention that I’ve been having problems with my UC (ulcerative colitis).
How can I inquiry about setting up a consultation?
I have certainly seen false positives at your index value and I think a western blot would be helpful for you to understand if you are really infected or not. We can have a consultation and work on getting that testing done. I think whenever someone tests positive for HSV 2, they start to have tingling and burning and leg pain – I bet 95% of the time! There is a link to getting a western blot on this site – just follow it and set up an appointment. We’ll get this clearer together OR you can do the blot with your regular provider – either will work!
Terri
