Helo Terri. I am a heterosexual male that had protected vaginal sex & received unprotected oral sex by a woman who has Genital HSV2. This was only one encounter and I was made aware before we did anything and advised me that currently she rarely has outbreaks. The next morning I felt some itching/tingling on the penis shaft which I attributed to rough sex as I’ve felt this pain before. I also have been experiencing constipation as well as body wide itching the next day as well. I’ve experienced the combination of body wide itching and constipation before a year ago which at the time I believe was related to my fibromyalgia. The constipation has gotten a little better as the itching/tingling which seems localized to my perineum and anal area. My buttcrack skin seems a little raw and sensitive with I believe a little flaky skin, but I’m not sure if this is considered a lesion as there’s no bumps, sores/rash, breakage/bleeding or anything to swab. I probably noticed this a couple days later I’ve been very gassy since the beginning I’ve had occasional pelvic pressure which seems constipation related but now I experience anal spasms occasionally. I am an active cyclist that wear tights for closet to 100 miles a week which is the only other thing outside of herpes I feel this could be potentially related to. This is currently day 23 that since the one encounter and Im still experiencing the constipation anal itching/discomfort and tingling sensation in the per I understand from other posts you’ve answered prodrome symptoms are usually a couple days however I’ve had tingling/itching since day one. I’ve monitored my genital area since day one and haven’t noticed any blisters/sores. I tested at 8 days which I know was too early but my doctor added it to a full std panel just to make sure it wasn’t something else. everything was negative, and I plan to do another igg test at the 4 week mark.
Based on your experience does this sound like herpes given the length of symptoms?

Additional I understand that recurring outbreaks would appear pretty much anywhere in the boxer shorts area. Would a primary outbreak occur in my anal area even though this area was not involved in sexual intercourse? thanks

Just to update day 25 I notices on the side of my testicular skin where the fold meets the groin one small bump that wasn’t giving pain I was just checking the area. Now the area is only really painful when I cons bother the area Reminds me of a boil that’s shrunken down about to go away as I’ve had them years ago. Interesting enough its not where my prodrome like symptoms have been occurring (itching, tingling) which have been perineum anal and right groin side occasionally. I will continue to monitor to see if it develops into a blister or open sore to obtain a swab. Prodrome symptoms are still ongoing by the way.

Nothing that you have described here concerns me that you acquired herpes at this encounter. The symptoms that you have just are not consistent with new herpes. I am also not concerned about the testicular bump that you describe. As a straight male, if you acquired herpes, the initial symptoms would be on the shaft of the penis rather than your anus. Also, the fact that you started developing symptoms the next day says this is very likely not related to herpes. I am assuming that you have had an antibody test previously indicating that you were not infected prior to this encounter with HSV-2?

Thank you for the clarification. Yes to your question. I’m getting another test tomorrow to see if their were any changes. Also I wanted to clarify that the bump which looks more flat isn’t necessarily on my testicles but a little north where the skin begins and touches the groin. closer to the pinile shaft but not on the shaft itself

The location of the bump really doesn’t help me much in terms of knowing what it might be, but thank you for the clarification.

Update I had a swab on the bump mentioned earlier that came back negative. I had my blood drawn at 5.5 weeks which I thought was a igg but my doctor ended up ordering a igm which came back negative as well. Pretty much all my symptoms have subsided except lower scrotum/perineum area itching/tingling. There’s also itching/irritation in my groin fold but no lesions or rashes. I’m currently at day 48 from initial exposure and these symptoms has been consistent since week one. Yesterday I experienced a cold but again no lesions that would indicate an outbreak.
Does this still not seem like herpes? if not any indication as to what my symptoms might be?
I know Igm testing is unreliable but is their anything to take from that test?
Would the swab be accurate even though there was no fluid or open sore just a bump that went away a week later?
Would the flu-like symptoms present this long after the initial exposure and without lesions?

It still doesn’t seem like herpes to me, correct.I know Igm testing is unreliable but is their anything to take from that test?
There is absolutely nothing to take from this test – it should be banned entirelyWould the swab be accurate even though there was no fluid or open sore just a bump that went away a week later?
It depends upon if the swab was a PCR or NAAT test or a culture – the first two are far more accurate.Would the flu-like symptoms present this long after the initial exposure and without lesions?

Those have nothing to do with herpes and are not flu symptoms in the way we think about that. Your symptoms are of an upper respiratory infection.Terri
