Hi,
I wanted to ask how accurate the IgG test from Labcorp is? I got a full panel that included HSV 1/2 at 4 weeks and another one at 6.5 weeks. They both came back negative and I will be testing again at 13 weeks. I did not have full intercourse but there was oral sex involved for both of us. Apparently he is HSV-1 + in the mouth region, which I was not aware of at the time. However, when it occurred it didn’t see as though he had an outbreak or lesions or sore around the mouth.
About 2-3 weeks after I started feeling odd. My buttocks have this awful burning sensation, and I feel pins and needles in my legs and down to my toes. I am on a medication at the moment which stops me from producing estrogen. The medication has tons of side effects, so I’m left wondering if it’s the medication or if it could be HSV. I’m completely paranoid and anxious and wondering if it’s worth looking into a Western blot.
Thanks in advance,
the IgG test for HSV 1 misses 30% of infections compared to the gold standard herpes western blot. If he was the giver of oral sex to you and has oral herpes, then there is some risk from this encounter. I wouldn’t say high risk but some risk. A western blot would give you a final answer but should not be done sooner than 12 weeks from the encounter.
Terri
