      Hello Terri,
I tested positive for HSV2 in July 28th with a level of 3.54%. The same day I also tested positive for BV.
In April I tested for both hsv1/2 and both came negative.
I had unprotected sex May 9th and June 10th with an ex. I decided to get tested the next month July 28th since the relationship ship ended. My concern is can the BV cause a false positive?
I know a western blot could clarify but I am very scared of the outcome. I have not any Symptoms and I recently had protected sex with a new person. Could you provide guidance thanks.

Going from negative to positive between April and July could certainly be due to a new infection acquired either in May or June. Is it possible to ask your ex to get tested?

BV would not give a false positive for HSV no

      Have you had genital sores?

It’s possible but we are no longer speaking, I have no symptoms what so ever.

That’s good that you have no symptoms but you still have a relative high HSV 2 index value. I have seen false positives at this level, but probably 90% of people at this index value will confirm as truly being infected. With no symptoms, I would recommend the blot to confirm
