Hi and greetings from Spain.
I did have unprotected oral sex (20 minutes) with this girl( I am male) I was talking to, she gave me and I gave her. I am on day 4 with no symptoms.I also did have vaginal sex for maybe about 45 seconds, 10 thrust no condom . But stopped because no condom on my end.
With this even thought it was less than a minute .
Questions :
If I don’t show symptoms would you recomendar still a herpes test and an hiv after six weeks.
I have never had a cold sore and have tested negative in all my iggs
I always take care of myself and she did not have any blisters in her mouth or genital area.
How would you classify this risk and what would you recomendar ?Thanks

I would categorize your experience as low risk. I don’t know about the quality of the IgG testing in Spain but we no longer recommend using the IgG test here in the United States as a screening test because of the high rate of false positive results. So I guess at this point I would not recommend screening, assuming that the problems are similar
in other countries. I don’t know that this is trueTerri

Hi Terri ,
Thanks for your answer and my hospital uses the Elisa igg hsv 1/2 igg. And have the same cutoff rates as in the usa. I asked my doctor and he said it’s the same quality as the usa.
Let me get some questions:
1.
I am in day 7 and so far no symptoms.
As blisters and so, although since the day of the contact I’ve had a sore throat and runny nose. Don’t know if you would consider does flu symptoms. Or sounds lie primary infection
2.
Since I have been negative my whole life, and the results of the igg were to be acurrate. I would most likely develop symptoms ? If so by when?
3.
The 45 seconds of unprotected sex, would you think it’s likely to result in transmission?
4. I know you recommended not to test due to the high false positive, but I was to to test at 6/8 weeks. Would you consider that I did not catch it from this instance?
5. Now with this extra info, what do you think and what should o do?
Thank you so much for this forum and your help. -

That’s good. If you don’t have any symptoms by day 10, infection is unlikely but not impossible

This sounds nothing like a primary infection

It’s not quite that simple. The IgG for HSV one this is 30% of infections so you may or may not be infected with HSV one. Usually, people that are truly negative for both end acquire either type are more likely to be symptomatic.
3.

I think that’s highly unlikely
4. I know you recommended not to test due to the high false positive, but I was to to test at 6/8 weeks. Would you consider that I did not catch it from this instance?
If you tested negative at eight weeks I think it is unlikely that you acquired HSV two at this encounte
5. Now with this extra info, what do you think and what should o do?
I think if you feel like you really want to test, you should just be aware of the possibilities of false positives and the problem of not having a good confirmatory test where you are. Just so you know what you’re walking into if you decide to test.
