Hi Terri,
While on my husband’s watch, my 1 y/o son got into the recycling bin and started playing with a soda can I drank out of about 24 hours prior. I had an active lesion when I drank from this can. He’s a baby so everything goes in the mouth and he may have even rubbed his eyes. Is there a transmission risk here and anything we can do for prophylaxis?
Thank you!
To be more specific, I have oral hsv1 and had an active (in the healing stage) cold sore when drinking from the soda can.
Oh my, this is so NOT a risk for transmission of HSV 1 to your son! The virus would be long dead after 24 hours. You can stop being concerned about this
