Results, IGg taken 5 weeks and 3 days from possible exposure
HERPES SIMPLEX 1 IgG [H] >5.00
HERPES SIMPLEX 2 IgG 0.10
What does 5.0 index mean? Is this new or does the number indicate that I had exposure before?
Could there be an issue with my test because type 2 is too low?
Is the HSV1 too high for a second IGg or western blot? I know that there is a 30% chance the test can miss type 1, but it caught it in my case?
Questions:
-How contagious am I whether or not I have an outbreak or asymptomatic?
-Can I share anything anymore
-do I have to wash may hands every time I scratch my face or any non-sexual related body part even if asymptomatic, on or off antivirals
-what type of distance do I have to keep with hose I’m close to
-is kissing my children off the table now due to infection
-kissing, hands, cheeks, head etc.
-intimate kissing with partner like neck or body
-face I put my face against someone else’s face
-what type of skin contact should I avoid
-does it spread through coughing bc of dry throat or illness and sneezing
-sweat? From face or any part of the body
– I over wash my hands, could it be
transmitted through any break of my skin
-until a cure is created, should I discontinue sharing
Food
Drinks
Utensils
Remote
Pillows, sheets Blankets
Clothes-Does either type live in clothes
For HSV1, can I still get genital soars or does my body build immune
Will this spread to any other part of my body

Have you ever in your life had a cold sore on your lip or in your nose? If yes, then that is why your HSV 1 is positive. it is normal to test positive, as half the population has HSV 1 infection. If you’ve not had a cold sore on your lip ever in your lifetime, then we cannot know if your infection is oral or genital and because of that, I don’t know how to answer all these other questions that you pose. Let me know.

Terri,
I have not had a cold sore before. Not on my lips or nose. Based on how everyone’s body/immune responds to this I don’t know. But I know for sure I have not had the obvious/typical cold sore.It would help me adjust and take precautions for my family. I’ve refrained from intimacy and socialization until I figure out what my results mean, could you address my inquiries?

It totally depends upon where you infection is and what you are doing. HSV 1 genital infection is normally not very contagious at all. HSV 1 oral infection is more contagious, but it depends on what you are doing when you don’t have symptoms. If you are passionately kissing someone or giving someone oral sex you could transmit even when symptoms are not present.-Can I share anything anymore
I don’t think I understand what you mean-do I have to wash may hands every time I scratch my face or any non-sexual related body part even if asymptomatic, on or off antivirals
No-what type of distance do I have to keep with hose I’m close to
Huh? I don’t know what you mean, distance.-is kissing my children off the table now due to infection
No, but you may want to kiss them somewhere besides on the lips-kissing, hands, cheeks, head etc.
Thanks fine-intimate kissing with partner like neck or body
Thats fine-face I put my face against someone else’s face
That’s fine-what type of skin contact should I avoid
See answer to #1 above-does it spread through coughing bc of dry throat or illness and sneezing

You have a well established infection. Once you have this in one location, you will likely not get it at a new locationWill this spread to any other part of my body
See above.Terri
