› Forums › Herpes Questions › HSV1 low positive, WB?
I am a 33 years old male. I have never had sex before due to religious matters (I may have kissed but never any sexual activities).
Before getting married, I had to do an STD. All came back negative except for HSV1, 2.39H through Quest. I don’t recall ever having any cold sores ever. I have had a history of acne but that was it. I requested a WB and I have a consultation with you this week.
Is it possible that my number is a false positive for HSV1 (I have seen most people talking about false positive for HSV2 but not much about HSV1)? Should I get re-tested by another lab while I wait for the WB and meeting with you?
If I get retested, is Quest and LabCorp the same?
Any advice would help,
Thanks,
We spoke on the phone and for others reading this, he’s doing a western blot to confirm or deny this low positive HSV 1 result.

Just for anyone reading this, I came back negative for HSV1 with the western blot.
And I’m so happy for him. I am seeing more and more false positives for HSV 1 now, as well as HSV 2. very discouraging. three in one day
