I have had oral hsv1 my entire life since I was a baby, so over 20 years. My recent gf was diagnosed with ghsv1 shortly before we started dating. We began having sex without protection with the assumption that I would not be able to get reinfected genitally. One night we had sex shortly after her sores healed or were in the final stages of healing. I started to keep a close eye on my genitals because I was worried because I knew we probably should have waited a little longer for her to heal. I noticed two very small flat pinpoint size red dots on the inside of my thigh but they didn’t worry me. Maybe a week later i noticed some spots pop u on my penis like a red spot around the follicle of a hair that is still there a year later. Most of the bumps/spots that popped up didn’t concern me much until I got a bump about two-three months later towards the bottom of my scrotom. It was a single bump that looked like either a pimple or a blister so I popped it and took a shower to try and clean it. I didn’t notice it was there until i looked. It didn’t hurt at all and it did not ulcer. It went from bump to me popping it to it scabbing but the scabbing continued for about a week. It has been a year since that happened and I have not had anything concerning pop up since. I am trying to figure out if it is a really minor case of hsv1 since i have already had it all my life or if it was just a small ingrown hair irritated by the summer heat but I am not sure if ingrown hairs can scab like this bump did. The igg test I took before meeting her was 59.20 and the test I took a year after this encounter was 59.00.
Does this sound like herpes to you?
Would my igg number increase if I became reinfected genitally?
This encounter also happened around the time of my covid vaccine. Would that make me more suseptible to getting reinfected?
Your IgG result would not increase if you got HSV 1 genitally, but I think that is extremely unlikely, given your very well established HSV 1 infection. The COVID vaccine would not make you more susceptible, no.
