4 months ago I had unprotected sex with a girl. She claims she was clean and still claims she gets tested regularly and nothing has come up. The last month or so I started to get tingles and achy feeling in my penis and balls. Never had anyything that looked like herpes other than a couple red bumps that went away within a day or two. Not painful. Also maybe a little discomfort peeing but no burning or anything like that. I went to get tested and came back positive hsv2 3.47. Before I was with this person I tested negative for hsv2. What are the chances of a false positive even though my number is pretty high for a potential one. Thanks Terri
Andy
I think the odds of this being a true vs. false positive are about 90-10. If I were you, I would ask her to be sure that herpes testing was included in her STI screening. Often, it is not. But I have definitely seen several false positives at this level. No question.
