On May 8th 2015 I unknowingly had unprotected intercourse with a women who tested positive some years ago for HSV2 (I’m a male).she told me she has taking her medicine like she’s suppose to and hasn’t had and outbreak in over two years. It was twice in one night and there was no oral involved. Since then I’ve had no physical symptoms of the virus. Expect for my testicles feeling heavy and hurting from time to time. I’m not sure what this means if anything. I do have a varicocele vein in my left testicle that has bothered me from time to time throughout my life. Never had and history of stds of any sort. What are my chances of catching this from her? It’s been 6 weeks now and I haven’t had any sores or other symptoms. Could it just be me stressing myself out?

It certainly could be you stressing yourself out, yes!
Have you had a herpes antibody test in the past to know if you might already be infected and not know it?
The testicular pain is likely NOT from herpes but could be the varicocele acting up, yes.Terri

Thanks for the speedy response,
I’ve never before had any antibody test In the past but I’m almost certain I’ve never encountered hsv2 before. Just cause of the sex partners I’ve had in the past have never had any symptoms either. This is the first time I’ve had a new sex partner in the past 3 years as well. I’m just ready to put this behind me and move forward with myself. What is the likely hood of me gettin this from her? Like I said I’ve never had any symptoms what so ever but I am just really worried because she does have it.

I think the only way you can put this behind you is get an antibody test. If it is positive, it means that you are both infected and infectious to others. The odds of getting hsv 2 from the partner that you describe above are low but it sounds like you could have been infected before. May I ask why you aren’t getting tested at least to see where you stand as of now?

Well I tried to get tested from my primary care provider but they told me they weren’t able to do so. Only if I had any lesions that they could swab But I don’t so they never tested me. . I did get tested for everything else they could test me for. I want to but don’t know where or how to do it.
Can you provide any information on this l?
Is there a place I can go to do it or do I have to order it in the mail?
I’m in the western Washington state area for two days until I go home for a month so would you be able to assist me with anything close by if possible. Thanks for the great information and guidance! -

Its so easy to do online. I have recommended healthcheckusa.com. What you want is the type specific IgG for HSV 1 and 2.
they will send you a lab request form, you do to a lab near you, get your blood drawn and I think they give you the results online. From what I hear, it’s a snap. This was your final question on this subscription. If you have more questions, feel free to renew.
Best,
