Hi Terri,
I posted before but my symptoms keep worsening and I’ve since received a positive HSV2 result so I thought I would restart with all the facts.
Unprotected vaginal, oral and breast contact with my husband. 5 days later visit PCP for what I thought was a yeast infection, diagnosed with HSV2.
10 Antvirals, genital symptoms are mostly gone. Then prodome starts on my mouth followed by several lesions inside my my and one on my lip. Also several new marks on my face, itchy red eyes.
A few days later I notice lesions on my breasts where there was contact.
Based on the symptoms and widespread outbreaks I think it’s safe to say this is my primary outbreak. I was extremely ill at the time of contact so I’m assuming this is why I’m having such a severe symptoms.
Questions are as follows.
1) What is the likelihood of reoccurrence of symptoms on my breast, face, mouth, eyes ? The thought of having to have these symptoms visible to the rest of world regularly is extremely distressing.
2) What are the transmissions risks for the face mouth and breast? Specifically worried about breastfeeding future children.
3) My sister took a sip of my water bottle when I wasn’t paying attention, I’m so worried I could have passed this along to her as my oral symptoms are still active.
4) What level of precaution needs to be taken to prevent transmission. I’m less concerned about gential transmission more so the symptoms on the other parts of my body, likihood of shedding from the breast, face, mouth.
Thank you for your help.

So I assume that your husband tests positive for HSV 2? And tell me exactly how you were diagnosed? Blood antibody test or swab test of a lesion? And if antibody test, what was the index value?

I’m a little confused – were these extragenital lesions swab test positive for HSV 2?If they are positive by swab test, they are unlikely to recur often outside of their preferred area but if they do recur often, you can take daily antiviral therapy and reduce that greatly
2) What are the transmissions risks for the face mouth and breast? Specifically worried about breastfeeding future children.
Again, was the breast lesion swab test positive for HSV 2? That would be highly unlikely. Most breast lesions are HSV 1 from someone sucking on nipples. HSV 2 does not like the oral area and shedding from there is low.
3?) My sister took a sip of my water bottle when I wasn’t paying attention, I’m so worried I could have passed this along to her as my oral symptoms are still active.
So I think I answered this in another post?
Terri
