I (F) had protected vaginal sex with a hsv2 positive male on 2/9. (Positive approx 10 years; no outbreak present.) The condom broke, he did not ejaculate. He told me “I should be fine” and I could get tested if I wanted to be sure after 2 weeks. He sounded fairly flippant about it.
I started my period later the same day and some mild irritation, which usually happens with a new partner. On 2/15 began to have one random pain on my labia/ pubic bone like someone is poking me with a stick. I have hsv 1 and know what that tingling feels like, this isn’t the same. I don’t have any other symptoms that I feel I can attribute to this.
I guess my question is what is the likelihood of transmission and should I get tested if I do not present any symptoms? And if so, when?
There are so many conflicting opinions on getting tested if there aren’t symptoms. I just want to be responsible with any future partners.
Thank you for any help.
the likelihood of transmission in the situation that you describe is very low. There is no point in testing in two weeks – way too early. Does he take antiviral medication?

He does not. He says he is not currently experiencing any symptoms.
I have since experienced lower back and knee pain and 3 pimple/ big bite looking things on my butt and upper leg. I am trying to be seen by a doctor ASAP.
I wouldn’t worry about the back and knee pain and if you got herpes from him, a new outbreak would likely be in the genital area, not on your butt and upper leg. That’s normal a location for recurrences, not primary outbreaks
