Hello I have been in a relationship since November 3 rd. we started having unprotected sex after both getting a cleared std/sti screening and exclusivity one month later (dec 6) . I noticed after that his didnt include HSV mine did and I was negative for both HSV 1/2. The last time we had sex was on 2/2, on 2/4 he started having UTI like symptoms and went to the dr. Unfortunately he came back HSV 2 positive with an index of 6.01. He started antivirals 2/9 no improvement to UTI symptoms. He never had any blisters. 2/16 he still wasn’t feeling better. He Called previous partner and she informed him that she tested positive for chlamydia and HSV2 after they broke up. His dr started him on doxycycline for chlamydia on 2/16 but didn’t test him. he already feels better today. He never had a physical sore. 2/14 I noticed a bump and a spot on inside of inner labia. i have ZERO other symptoms, no itching, burning or pain, and im peeing fine. 2/15 went in for a swab for hsv2 and chlamydia. waiting on results. i have touched the spots and nothing hurts. I have no symptoms at all.
My question is
1. if my swab for HSV2 is negative do you feel there is a need for an IGG test?
2. Since he was on antivirals for 7days with no improvement. Could his HSV2 been a false positive?
Thank you in advance. any information would help me so much! stress and anxiety has been ridiculous
1. if my swab for HSV2 is negative do you feel there is a need for an IGG test?
What was the results of the the swab test? I think an IgG test might be appropriate in your situation, per the CDc recommendations. You have certainly been put at risk, unknowingly for both of you
2. Since he was on antivirals for 7days with no improvement. Could his HSV2 been a false positive?
I think it is likely not a false positive, but I have seen them in that range, most definitely. The western blot would clarify that
